FIRST VISIT
New Patients
We are currently accepting new patients of all ages! At Bonney Lake Dental Center, we offer top-notch dental care.
Your initial visit includes a comprehensive dental exam, where we review your medical history, address your concerns and assess your teeth and gums. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan to fit your personal needs and goals. If there is enough time, we would also clean your teeth at your initial visit.
New Patient Dental Exam
As a new patient at Bonney Lake Dental Center, your first dental exam is much more than just a quick look at your teeth and at your X-rays! It’s a thorough consultation with both the dentist and the hygienist. Here’s what to expect:
- Review of your Medical Health History – A review of your medical health history, concerns, diet and medications.
- Review of your Dental History.
- Discuss Your Dental Goals – A discussion of any of your immediate dental concerns and your long-term dental goals.
- A full set of digital X-rays – to help us find whether there is any tooth decay, bone loss, cavities, infections or any other dental issues.
- Oral Cancer Screening – We check your mouth, lips, tongue, throat and neck for any signs of oral cancer. This examination is quick and painless and helps detect early signs of oral cancer.
- A Dental Evaluation –we check your teeth for any previous restorative dental work and evaluate for any signs of tooth decay.
- Screening for Gum Disease – We evaluate the health of your gums, and look for any signs of periodontal diseases. We use a periodontal probe to measure and chart your pocket depths, look for any signs of gum recession, bleeding points, or tooth mobility.
- Intraoral and Extraoral Photos – We take photos of the inside of your mouth, as well as your face and your smile. Intraoral photos help us examine areas of your mouth and teeth that are otherwise difficult to visualize, like detecting cavities or cracks that an x-ray can’t often reveal. Extraoral photos are great to see your before and after pictures. We show you the pictures so you can see what we see and be part of the treatment planning process.
There is a lot involved in the comprehensive new patient dental exam. Once your examination is completed, we’ll have a good assessment of the overall health of your teeth and gums. This helps us make recommendations on the type of dental and periodontal treatment necessary to bring your teeth and gums back to health.
